Overview

Above Board Electric (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What information we collect

When you submit a quote request through our website, we collect:

• Your name
• Your phone number
• Your email address
• A description of the work you need done

We do not collect payment information, government identifiers, or sensitive information through this website.

If a quote notification cannot be emailed to us at the time you submit it, your enquiry details may be recorded briefly in our hosting provider’s system logs so we can still follow up with you. These logs are retained only for a short period and are then automatically deleted.

We also collect usage data to understand how visitors find and use the site. This comes from two tools: a privacy-friendly analytics tool that records anonymous data (page views, device type, country) without cookies, and Google Analytics, which uses cookies to measure traffic sources and on-site activity. This usage data is not used to personally identify you. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing Google’s browser opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.

How we use your information

We use the information you provide solely to:

• Respond to your enquiry and provide a quote
• If you proceed with the work, keep your details in our business records to issue invoices and meet our tax obligations

We do not use your information for marketing, sell it to third parties, or share it with any party not listed in this policy.

Third parties we share data with

To operate our website and respond to enquiries, we use trusted third-party service providers. Each is bound by their own privacy policy and is used only for the purpose described:

• A website hosting and analytics provider, which processes web requests and anonymous usage data so the site can run.
• An email delivery provider, used to send your enquiry to us. Your name and email are included in that notification.
• Google Analytics, which processes anonymous usage data (using cookies) so we can see how the site is found and used.

Some of these providers are located overseas, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

How long we keep your information

If you become a customer, your details are kept for seven years in our business records to meet our obligations under the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997. If you do not proceed with any work, you may request deletion at any time.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct information that is inaccurate or out of date
• Request deletion of your information (subject to our legal obligations)
• Complain about a breach of your privacy
